All parents have different needs and expectations of what a nursery will provide for their child, and we believe a solid relationship between parents and staff is crucial. We strive to go above and beyond, not only offering a fully inclusive childcare service, but offering help and support to all. We have supported parents with seeking alternative childcare, those wanting to return to work or study, supported parents with feeding and weaning, and those who have sought additional services from outside agencies.
OUR SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT
Cheeky Monkeys has a commitment to the health, safety and well-being of all children. Safeguarding is paramount, and Cheeky Monkeys robust safeguarding procedures and extensive staff training ensure our entire team have established and maintained high levels of safeguarding practice and policy.
Children are supported through all areas to understand safeguarding, both for themselves and for others. This supports their growth and learning, as well as self confidence, self awareness and resilience.
Cheeky Monkeys Designated Leads in Safeguarding are –

New Starters and Moving Areas/Settings
New children are invited to an induction session to discuss regular routines and likes and dislikes etc. A suitable settling program is then arranged to support your child’s comfortable transition into nursery life. Staff work on developing healthy and positive relationships with families to further support your child’s learning and development during their nursery life.
When the time comes to move through the nursery to a different area, staff make assessments of the children based on their age and stage of development, and levels of need or support. Staff will discuss the best time and process for transitioning and support parents in understanding the transition process. Staff within the new area will often spend time with children before the transition, establishing relationships, understanding their routines and learning their likes and dislikes before the big move.
And when the time comes for little ones to leave us we ensure they are as prepared as possible for the changes and challenges ahead, we pass on key information to new settings and schools to ensure a safe and supported transition.
We are here for children, parents and carers every step of the way!!
Parents As Partners
We work solidly to establish and promote parent partnerships, actively encouraging parents and carers to attend sessions or outings to spend time with their child in our care. Daily sheets or verbal handovers are given at the end of each session, informing parents of all daily events, meal times, sleeps, nappy changes etc. Working alongside parents merges home and nursery life, supporting learning and development for all children.
We will regularly access your child’s development and complete a learning journal which documents how your child is growing and progressing in all areas of development. Staff are always observing and assessing to ensure your child receives the best care and support needed. Observations are made which feed into your child’s learning journal, we then use these observations to plan key activities to promote learning. A useful link is given below to support parents understanding of our early years assessment framework
Your child’s journal is accessible online through our Parent Portal, if for any reason you cannot access these services, alternative arrangements will be made to share your child’s reports and progress. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress at any time, please feel free to speak to a member of the team.
Policies and Procedures
Policies and Procedures are vitally important and protect our children, our families and our staff. Cheeky Monkeys Day Nursery has an extensive Policies and Procedures document, giving detailed information on critical practice such as Safeguarding, Behaviour Management, Illness and Medication, Complaints and Health and Safety. Parents can view these policies at any time. Please speak to a member of the team for more information. Thank you.
